The Sculpture is first created in hard wax which is then encased in a concrete-like ceramic shell.
After the ceramic shell has dried completely, it is placed in a kiln and the wax is burned out -- hence the term, "Lost Wax." Then molten bronze is poured into the shell.
The shell is sandblasted away from the bronze and the piece is cut away and cleaned entirely. |
Chemicals are applied to the bronze to create color (Patinas) and the piece is mounted on a base. |
